KEY BOTANICALS

Cape Snowbush (Eriocephalus africanus) A silvery, aromatic fynbos shrub used in Cape herbal tradition as a remedy for stress, skin irritation, and restlessness. Calming and gently detoxifying — it quiets reactive skin and carries a subtle, mood-softening quality that makes it as useful to the nervous system as it is to the skin.

African Wormwood (Artemisia afra) One of the most widely used medicinal plants in southern Africa, known locally as wilde als. Used for centuries to relieve inflammation, improve circulation, and restore vitality to skin that has been stressed or depleted. Its herbaceous, purifying scent is immediately grounding.

Cape Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) Native to the Cape and cultivated worldwide for its distinctive rose-adjacent aroma. A natural skin tonic — anti-inflammatory, sebum-balancing, and clarifying. It tones and tightens while simultaneously calming redness and supporting emotional equilibrium.

RITUAL

After cleansing, while the skin is still slightly warm. Take a small amount and work between the palms before applying — face first, then hands, then body. The lotion absorbs quickly and without residue. The scent rises briefly as it goes in, then settles into the skin and disappears. What remains is the softness, and the quiet.

PROVENANCE NOTE

Cape Snowbush takes its name from the silver-white hairs that cover its leaves — an adaptation to the intense heat and wind of the fynbos that also gives it its distinctive, calming fragrance. African Wormwood, known across southern Africa as wilde als, is one of the continent's most ancient remedies — recorded in use by the Khoisan and Nguni peoples for everything from fever to skin ailments to spiritual protection. Cape Geranium was among the first Cape botanicals to be exported to Europe in the seventeenth century, where its rose-like oil became a prized ingredient in perfumery long before it found its way into skincare.
