KEY BOTANICALS

Cape Snowbush (Eriocephalus africanus) A silvery fynbos shrub whose calming, herbaceous scent has been used in Cape herbal tradition to ease restlessness, promote relaxation, and soothe the senses. In the mist it creates an immediate quality of stillness — a signal to the nervous system that it is safe to slow down.

African Wormwood (Artemisia afra) Known across southern Africa as wilde als and one of the continent's most revered medicinal and ceremonial plants. Used in traditional practice to purify spaces, clear stagnant air, and support easy breathing. Its earthy, clarifying scent is ancient and immediately grounding.

Rose Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) Native to the Cape and cultivated worldwide for its rich, rose-adjacent complexity. Deeply balancing to the emotions — it relieves stress, lifts low mood, and centers the mind without sedating it. On the skin, it tones and refreshes lightly with each application.

RITUAL

Shake gently before use. For the room — two to three sprays into the air, allowing the mist to fall and disperse naturally. For linen and fabric — spray from a distance and allow to dry before contact. For the body — mist lightly over the pulse points at the wrist and throat, or through the hair for a fragrance that moves with you. For sleep — a single spray over the pillow, the duvet, the space around the bed. The scent will be present as you fall asleep and gone by morning, having done its work.

PROVENANCE NOTE

African Wormwood has been burned, brewed, and inhaled across southern Africa for centuries — used by the Khoisan, the Nguni, and the Sotho peoples as a purifying agent for homes, bodies, and ceremonial spaces. Its reputation as a cleanser of both physical and atmospheric stagnation is one of the most consistent threads running through the continent's diverse healing traditions. Cape Snowbush grows on the rocky lower slopes of the Western Cape mountains, its silver leaves evolved to reflect heat and retain moisture — qualities that translate, in the bottle, into a calming fragrance of unusual depth. Rose Geranium was among the first Cape botanicals to be commercialised internationally, its oil distilled and exported to European perfumers who recognised in it a complexity that their cultivated roses could not quite produce.
